Baby boom expected as two miniature pigs prepare to give birth... with fans around the world waiting to watch live

A miniature pig farm is preparing for a bumper baby boom, with two expectant mums due to give birth at any moment, and thousands of pig lovers around the world are eagerly waiting for the first glimpse of the new arrivals.

Staff at Kew Little Pigs Farm in Old Amersham, Buckinghamshire are keeping a round-the-clock watch on pregnant pigs Jilly and Venus as they await the arrival of what they hope will be healthy litters of piglets over the coming days.

The team says the welfare of both mothers is their absolute priority, particularly during the recent spell of exceptionally hot weather, with staff monitoring the pigs closely to ensure they remain comfortable, hydrated and relaxed ahead of labour.

The eagerly anticipated arrivals are expected to delight visitors, while pig fans across the globe will also be able to follow every moment through the farm's popular Pig Cams, which stream live on YouTube and via the Kew Little Pigs Farm website.

The excitement has also sparked a Piglet Prediction Competition, with followers invited to guess how many boys and girls each mum will have for the chance to win a ticket to the farm's Pig Chill festival, which takes place on July 26. 

Olivia Mikhail, founder of Kew Little Pigs Farm, said: "It's such an exciting time for everyone here. Jilly and Venus are both due any day now, and we're all eagerly waiting to meet their piglets.

"Our experienced team keeps a very close eye on all of our expectant mums, and with the recent hot weather we've been paying even more attention to making sure they're staying cool, comfortable and well hydrated. Their welfare always comes first.

"Every litter is incredibly special, and we can't wait to introduce visitors to the newest members of the Kew Little Pigs family.

The ethical miniature pig farm has become well known for putting welfare at the heart of everything it does, with staff carefully supporting expectant sows before, during and after birth to give both mothers and piglets the very best start.

The expected arrivals come as the farm launches one of its biggest summer offers yet, helping families enjoy a day out for less.
